Book Title:  The Reason I Stay
Author:  Patty Maximini
Publication date: Summer 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance
Cover Design: Okay Creations   http://okaycreations.com/

Synopsis:

Jack Daniels is the cure to all evils.
Sex should be casual and, preferably, anonymous.
Giving a damn is for nurses, philanthropists and suicide hotlines.

Those are the values Mathew Rogers built his adult life on and plans to spend the rest of his days honoring. In his pursuit of happiness, he embarks on a one year journey where he’ll have to prove he can live by his values and rely only on himself.

Four months and thirteen days later, due to a series of unfortunate events, he finds himself in the rickety town of Jolene, Alabama. There, he meets Lexie, a waitress with some serious attitude and values of her own.

Never underestimate the healing power of chocolate chips.
If it walks and talks like a jerk, it’s definitely a jerk. Stay the hell away.
When in doubt, go with a smile and kindness. It goes a long way.

Taken by her beauty and personality, Mathew questions all he’s ever known and, much to his surprise, begins to give a damn about someone else for once in his life. The problem, however, is that Lexie seems to despise him.

Desperate to get his life back but unable to get in his car and drive to the next unplanned destination, Matt stays in Jolene. In the midst of arguments, unlikely friendships, new values and heartbreak, they’ll both try to find a reason to stay.

Author Bio:
Words have always been a passion of mine. I’ve always loved to read them, write them and learn them in other languages. Last year, I’ve decided to take that passion and turn it into a book, the result was Exception, my very first novel due this October.

Whenever I’m not sitting behind my computer, I’m either enjoying the company of my dear hubby, Alex, and our four four-legged babies or reading. I’m a firm believer in long hand written letters, love of any kind and good stories.

Loving Mr. Daniels Blog Tour

I am excited to be a part of Brittainy C. Cherry's Blog Tour for
Loving Mr. Daniels
Brittainy's books are quickly taking up a big chunk of my favorites lists.  The Space in Between, and Our Totally, Ridiculous, Made-Up Christmas Relationship, both are skillfully done, enthralling, touching, have characters that grab on to your heartstrings and never let go. I fall in love with each of her leading men.  I always find something enviable and endearing about her leading ladies.

Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to review her newest release. I hope you all enjoy Ashlyn and Daniel as much as I did.

BUY.READ.REVIEW.

Book Title: Loving Mr. Daniels
Author: Brittainy C. Cherry
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Date of Publication: May 13, 2014

BOOK DESCRIPTION
To Whom it May Concern,

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn't plan to stumble into Joe's bar and have Daniel's music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.

Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.

It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.

It was ours.

And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

-Ashlyn Jennings

In keeping with the spirit of Ashlyn and Daniel's love of Shakespeare, I thought I'd start my review off with a quote I felt was fitting:
"Such is my love, to thee I so belong,
That for thy right myself will bear all wrong."
~Shakespeare Sonnet 88

They were willing to bear the wrong, in order to keep their love.

When knowing in advance you are about to read a book with a student/teacher love angle to it, so many predictable story lines come to mind.  Forbidden Love...Taboo Love...Stolen glances...etc. etc.  Did this story have that? YES...but it was so much more than your average student teacher romance.  Brittainy C. Cherry is a beautiful story teller, able to pull at your heartstrings one moment, then have you laughing at her quirky sense of humor the next.

Ashlyn Jennings is a girl that suffers unbearable loss, only to be forced into a new environment with a father she barely knows, who comes equip with a whole new family she knew nothing about.

She meets and falls for a sweet, charming, beautiful musician, Daniel Daniels, who she later finds out is her new AP English teacher.  He is dealing with his own grief and loss.  Neither of them planned on love, but love found them all the same.

This book doesn't just explore the new found love of Ashlyn and Daniel. This book also delves into two different sides of sibling love.  My current favorite movie is Frozen, and Gabby and Ashlyn totally remind me of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna.  There is nothing like a tight sibling bond. I think one of my favorite parts of this book was being able to read Gabby's letters right along with Ashlyn. It made me feel connected to them both as if I was there giddy and excited on that emotional ride with Ashlyn.

The flip side of a tight sibling bond is estranged siblings.  Where Ashlyn and Gabby share a love that even death can't separate, Daniel and his brother Jace have such a sad back story that they have spent years not speaking to one another.  Ashlyn is dealing with loss in a literal sense, while Daniel deals with a loss by choice.

This is a book about family, love, loss, healing, and hope.  Ashlyn and Daniel were 2 heartbroken people who didn't realize how much they needed one another until they found each other, were forced apart only to find each other again.    I laughed, I cried, I cringed, I applauded, I was shocked, I was crushed, I was hopeful.  I ran through so many emotions while reading this book.  I can't tell you how you will feel after it reading it, but I can guarantee you, you will FEEL something.  Isn't that what we all love about reading books?  Finding an author that connects you to their story in some way, shape, or form.

I give Brittainy C. Cherry's Loving Mr. Daniel's 5 emotional stars.  I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did.

BEAST by Pepper Pace

Book Title: Beast
Author: Pepper Pace
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Erotica/Multicultural
Date of Publication: November 12, 2013

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Pepper Pace's interracial fairytale is the story of Beast; a marine with a destroyed face and a plus sized beauty who has identity issues. A lesson learned is that beauty is not what is on the outside...

In this romance that is taken from the Beauty and the Beasts' fairytale, it will leave you questioning
'who is the beauty and who is the beast?'

We've all heard the phrase, "beauty is only skin deep" and I think in this twisted fairytale we were able to explore beauty in every form it comes in.  This book made me analyze how I view beauty and face some of my own prejudices when interacting with people that society deems "less attractive" for whatever the reason may be.

I was already a fan of Pepper's before I read this book, however after reading it Beast became my favorite book of hers.  This novel is so rich with character development, I felt like I knew Ashleigh and Christopher.  I wanted to cry with Ashleigh and I just wanted to hug Christopher.  These were characters that stayed with me long after I finished the book.

Ashleigh Dalton has an amazing set of friends who love and support her.  She's beautiful, smart and successful.  However, she can't see all the things that make her beautiful because she's a full figured woman who can't see past her weight.  She puts up with less than she deserves from men because she feels that's all she deserves.  As wrong as it is for people to view her a certain way because of her weight...she proves to be just as shallow, only interested in model-like men who tend to be out of her reach.

Circumstances bring her to Christopher, who at first glance has all the physical Greek god-like characteristics she's drawn to in a man...
"He was a giant! She could see the muscles rippling along his back as he ran, even through the hoodie."
Christopher Jameson, a marine with a shockingly amazing body every woman would drool over and stare at unabashedly...with a face that is equally as shockingly, but for different reasons.  His face is scarred and disfigured. Christopher goes about life hiding from the world to avoid rejection.  He doesn't believe he will find someone to love him because of his face, eventhough he has a heart of gold.

Until Christopher sees Ashleigh. He's drawn to the overweight woman because he sees beauty in her determination and her unwillingness to give up despite what others may see when they look at her.
"Christopher lingered. She'd dropped down on the mat on her back.  She was breathing hard.  Shit, she was going to seize up doing that.  Her arm was across her face. He leaned in closer. She was crying."
Pepper Pace takes us on an unforgettable journey where these two people fall in love with each other based on the content of their character and not the package it comes in.  Even though, over the course of the story, those outer packages change drastically.  I would like to think they change for THEMSELVES and not to "better looking" in the eyes of society.

The storyline, although loosely based on a fairytale deals with real life situations, biases, and disabilities.  It forces you to face your own prejudices and fears.   To sum it all up I LOVED Beast. It was a sweet, touching, love story about two insecure, imperfect people who were able to love each other inspite of those insecurties and imperfections.  They created a PERFECT love together.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pepper Pace stories span the gamut from humorous to heartfelt, however the common theme is crossing boundaries.

Pepper's unique stories deal with taboo topics such as mental illness and homelessness. Readers find themselves questioning their own sense of right and wrong, attraction and desire.

In addition to writing, the author is also an artist, an introverted recluse, a self proclaimed empath and a foodie.

DREAM CAST

"The Man who fights too long against DRAGONS becomes a DRAGON himself." ~Friedrich Nietzsche

K.J. Ramsey Stone, has encountered many DRAGONS in his life...and this time around, his sleeping DRAGON is awakened and running the show! In The Dragon you see a darker side of Ramsey, that is just as sexy, sweet, and charming, but this time around he's also overpowering, ruthless, and domineering.  This Ramsey is not to be f*cked with, and you see that from the beginning to the end.  FAMILY is the force that drives Ramsey, so regardless of his actions, I felt drawn to Oppa throughout The Dragon

At the end of "The Masseuse" life was not kind to Ramsey, however  in The Dragon Ramsey is determined to find a way to make it right. Jezebel is hurt and confused at the end of The Masseuse...during The Dragon there were times I wanted to shake her, lol, but you have to LOVE her strength, compassion, and determination.

The Dragon introduces us to so many new characters, and each one has layers that you can't wait for the author to pull back and expose a little more. I LOVED the twists and turns that took place during this book.  NOTHING turned out the way I thought it would...PREDICTABLE is not a word that comes to mind in "The Dragon"...be prepared to be on the edge of your seat...be prepared to feel angry...be prepared to feel love.  The Dragon is a suspense filled, thrill ride, that I will more than happily take again!  Violette Dubrinsky is a PHENOMENAL author, her writing NEVER disappoints, and The Dragon is just further proof of that!  I give The Dragon: 5 ENTHUSIASTIC STARS!!!!
